I cant comment on your question with drum/drum brakes. However with Disk/Disk the
difference in 1&1/4 vs 1& 5/16 is huge.
The smaller bore did not give good pedal reserve. On a hard stop, the pedal was almost to the floor. With the larger bore, on a hard stop, the pedal was about 1/2 way.
Not the answer to your drum/drum question, but hope this give a little insight. All my trucks run the dual chamber 1& 5/16 bore master.
