I have been using more and more grade 8 because of the decline in quality of grade 5 from china. loose fitting, soft, and bad plating. I spoke with the buyer at fastenal and he told me that some of the US manufacturers are getting back into bolt production in the under 5/8 size range. He said the machines they had been making that stuff with were all worn out so many just stopped makeing the smaller stuff. As they upgrade machinery we might start seeing more American nuts and bolts.
