Beam was sold to investors who saw the value in us made spirits, the sale of which are up 30% annually. the demand for makers mark was so high recently, they diluted the mix and people went batty until makers restored the formula. it sucks, but as you say there are other brands out there. not interested in making my own, because the govt has basically criminalized a craft that was once openly practiced and enjoyed. you can grow medical marijuana, but you'd do time for making your own whiskey.
