I recently rebuild a later np205 and I believe it had a little play between the snap (lock) rings and the bearing. I would have to see the exact bearing but on both the input and output shafts on a 205 the shafts are two piece and can slide in and out on the roller bearings. I believe when everything is assembled including the yokes they are tight against the lock ring and the roller bearing is sitting where it needs to be. Hope that makes a little sense.
