We used to ride our 4 wheelers on frozen cricks and ponds by screwing machine screws into the tires for traction.
I took that further by screwing short screws into my boots for the same reason.
Redneck ice cleats.
Four in each heel. Four more near the base of your toes.
They worked well enough to keep people from laughing at the idea, anyway..
