A simple principle. “Left” or “right” used in expressing vehicle instruction is determined by facing the vehicle from the rear. Words “Left – driver’s side of vehicle where steering gear is mounted” or “right – opposite side where driver’s steering gear is mounted” designate location of wires and posts. For example, ignition switch’s right post, indicates post on passenger side of switch. So for example, if instructions say – connect single red wire to left post of ammeter, and connect two brown, and one black and white wires to right post of ammeter,” you’ll know which post to use. If no instruction provided, then work with “Left” or “right” and current flow.

Illustration interpreted:

- You should have a “No. 8 red” wire going from the starter’s solenoid to the ammeter’s “left” post.

- From the ammeter’s “right” terminal, you should have a “No.12 brown” wire going to the ignition switch “left” post.

- From the ignition switch’s “right” post “F”, you should have a “No.12 blue” wire going to the Fuel gauge “G” post.

- The only remaining post off the ignition switch, wire to the coil.

Happy New Year to you as well.
