Gauge Polarity?

How can you tell which post is positive and which is negative on 6v gauges that are not marked? Looking at the back of the gauge, would the left post be + and the right post -?

The wiring diagram only gives the "+" and "-" on the Amp gauge.

Likewise, there are no markings on the back of my ignition switch, just one of the 3 terminals is longer that the rest. Does the long terminal correspond to the "F" on the diagram?
