It can't hurt to try it. The problem, if it's sat for a long time, is there is probably no oil left in the oilite bearings. You can probably get some oil into the shaft end, but if it's like most heater motors, you'd have to cut the housing apart to oil the other end. Most likely the best you can do is clean it up and oil it the best you can and try to run it. It might work just fine for a long time, or not, but you haven't lost anything by trying. If you end up having to replace the motor, you'll have to take it all apart anyway, so probably best try to get it apart now so as to clean and oil it better.
