i have seen them used on bigger diesels, i think that is just to keep the coolant conditioned(meaning the right PH and all that stuff) on some diesels electrolisis eats through the liner and lets coolant weep into a cylinder.i think on gas jobs people useally flush the systems out. someone may ad to or correct me if i have explained it wrong.
