the way I look at a PW is if the frame, axles, springs, gear boxes are in decent shape and it has a workable cab and nose(or not nose parts are easy to get), then you are never throwing money away because a salvagable POwer Wagon is not a depreciating asset. the value will only increase with the work you put into it or stay about the same and fluctaute with the market if you do nothing but maintain it in its current state. wil you keep it for ever? plan on putting more into later? jsut do it the best you can afford. I would probably jsut total rebuild the whole thing. bore, machine crank, replace all bearings, replace valve guides, do valve job, hot tank block etc. will run and run for years and years.
