We had lubed the crank with Lubriplate. The machine shop gave me pistons already loaded with rings, with a disposable ring compressor on each one. Substandard rings in an oversize bore, a real smoker. So we tore it down. All of the crank and rod bearing had burned blue with Lubriplate. I guess grease like that is supposed to wash away before it overheats? It didn't, and it did.
No, oil won't flow out if left between assembly and initial start up. At least no more than an engine parked when hot and not restarted for weeks.
