By the sounds of that, you might have a repairable block and crank. Personally I would be looking for a reasonable runner from the latest model possible and swap it in. Just depends on end use and how many $$$$ you are prepared to spend. I would go for the later one because of cam grind, compression ratio, etc to get as much factory power as I could. My 2 cents.
