Ok, IM outside with my computer and going over this information, and measuring……..

½ ton
• Stamped inspection cover “formed” over the ring gear and bolted on. YES, BOTH AXLES HAVE THIS
• 3/8 diam. studs for mounting inspection cover. YES BOTH AXLES HAVE THIS
• 3/8 diam. studs for third member mounting. YES, BOTH AXLES HAVE THIS, except for the one i had drilled out already, :)
• No recesses ground at top and bottom of housing since it used an 8-3/4 ring gear. YES BOTH AXLES HAVE WHAT I THINK IS TTHESE AREAS GROUND OUT
Early ¾ ton
• Stamped inspection cover “formed” over the ring gear and bolted on. YES< BOTH AXLES HAVE THIS
• 3/8 diam. studs for third member mounting and inspection cover. YES BOTH AXLES HAVE tHIS
• Larger housing. I MEASURED THE CURRENT AXLE ON MY POWER WAGON, AND IT IS THE SAME CIRCUMFERENCE AS BOTH THE OTHER AXLES
• No recesses ground at top and bottom of housing for the first 481 units using an 8-3/4 ring gear. After 481 units, recesses ground at top and bottom to accept the 9-5/8 ring gear. I THINK THE RECESSES ARE THERE, AS THE 9 5/8 RINGS GEAR THIRD MEMBERS FIT IN EASILY
• 1/16th thick metal stud ring used as spacer, but not welded to housing.
Late ¾ ton NEITEHR ARE THE LATE 3/4 TON AS THEY BOTH HAVE BOLT ON COVERS AND 7/17 STUDS ON BOTH SIDES
• Stamped “spherical” inspection cover bolted using 7/16 diam. studs, later welded on.
• 3/8 diam. studs for third member mounting and inspection cover.
• 7/16 diam. studs for third member mounting and inspection cover.
• 1/16 stud ring welded to housing and welded tag to housing indicating use of one gasket.
