Ir really let it rev higher. But that was at 6,000 rpms, where the flame has not got time to burn all the way across the piston, so lighting it off from both sides helped. NOT the problem with a flat head.

And so far as dual ignition systems go, where are you going to put a second trigger/points?

The Yamaha was easy, I just added a second coil and a second condenser. But that added only a second plug. And besides, the coil mounted under the tank, the second one tended to short to the tank. Zap my tender parts when things got damp. Woo-Hoo! But it tended to slow down the motocrossing when I had to keep a wide stance to keep my inner thighs away from that tank.

Dry weather it was kick-ass. But that cylinder was out to 11th over size when I dropped it while crossing a stream. I landed on some broken bottles, and headed to the hospital with a severed carpal tunnel nerve, and the motor rusted up during my rehab. I last feeling in those fingers, but the DT1 was done for.

I did replace it with a Husqy 450 Desert Sled for $50, but that is another story.
