I have seen the frequency of tcase failures go way up since chain drive. I hope your right and the chains are getting stronger. I dontknow what your running to break 205s but probably some overblown non streetable engines. the only reason they switched to gear is cost. in the after market like Stak its all gears. the reason is strength. browse craigslist for an hour and look at 4x4s older than 10 years and you see many with bad tcases. all chain drive. since my first WC54 almost 30 years ago I have never bought a truck with a bad Tcase (all but one were gear drive) and never seen a failed gear drive on anything. seen some that need bearings and seals but never any catastrophic failures.
