Bought it to use on my JD 2010 backhoe that spun a rod bearing. It would have been a huge piece of work to remove the backhoe/loader frame from around the tractor and then separate the tractor so as to get the crank out. The machine worked like a champ. Unfortunately the engine still barely runs, but that's a different story.

It was made by Sunnen, looks to be 1950s vintage. Pretty neat contraption. It uses very special stones that you can't get any more, so it wouldn't be good for a lot of use. It has a motor on a frame that you set across the engine compartment with a long belt to turn the crank pulley slowly, and then the grinder itself hangs from the crank and follows the crank up and down as it rotates. The support for the grinder bolts to the bottom of the block using the oil pan bolt holes. It's adjustable eight ways from Sunday to fit various rigs. Runs real nice and smooth. It does leave a swirly pattern, which probably isn't ideal. They suggest you leave it half a thou over and then clean it up using very fine emery cloth wrapped around it and held with a long leather shoelace. I used the emery cloth strips that come on a roll, but didn't get all the swirls totally out.
