Galen, if you are still using points and condenser like me there are a couple of things that can cause this. probably the number one thing is a weak battery, the battery has the oomp to turn the motor but not quite enough to do both at the same time (turn starter and have enough left to fire the ignition too)a dragging starter will pull an excessive amount of current and seem like a weak battery. be sure to have a good, fully charged battery. the points set to close together will cause the fire to be weak. be sure that the wires to and from the battery and coil are clean and free of grease. check for corrosion in the towers of the cap, and check the little spring loaded carbon inside the cap, make sure there is no moisture in the cap or down in the distibiter. on a lesser note sometimes the terminal on the side of the housing will get dirty enough to bleed off current to ground, robbing the other components. and then it could be something as simple as a going away coil. (just did that myself) had the wire off the other day and there was oil down in the tower!! runs much better with a new coil. if all else fails try the little condenser in the disribiter. Dave.
