Hi all,

My pistons are marked 040 and my bores are measuring 2.295+ and the walls look very shiny and smooth.

The top 1/4" or so, where the rings don't wear I am measuring about 2.291+. I can feel the transition, it is smooth - not really abrupt and there does not appear to be any sharp edge or any "catch".

Should I use a ridge reamer on this or is this something that should be left alone? Or just hone it? I was under the impression it was for sharp lips at the top, these all feel smooth (after removing a bit of carbon roughness.

I have not tried to remove the piston or seen how much resistance there is there.

Any thoughts appreciated as always.
