Thanks. Lack of oil was the reason the cable twisted off in the first place. The speedometer is not that hard to get out. Everyone should put this on their list of maintenance items. If you haven't done it, it's probably never been done.
I also put a little 3 In One oil on the pivot points in the speedometer. I'm not sure this is recommended, but it's worked for me. The smallest amount of oil you can use is probably best.
