Of course the timing chain and seal will be addressed when the crankshaft comes out. I'm just saying there will be a lot of things that need to be addressed and money spent to do a half way (I think there is another term) job. That's time and money down the drain if the engine fails within a short time.

If you think the engine doesn't need a complete rebuild. Address the immediate problem as Glen said. Take out the piston, rod and cap and take them to a machine shop to see if they can be saved. If not, get another rod and cap, and put in new bearings.

There's a good chance the engine will run for a while. If not, you haven't spent a lot of time and money on a half way rebuild.
