Here's my take on oil...if you want to run synthetic & intend to change it every 6 months or 3000 miles...it's a great product, if you feel like spending all that extra money.
For me, I just change my oil every 3000 miles & use Rotella. I use it in my Cummins trucks, I use it in my old trucks & my motocross bikes...that's all I run in them as well & I've never had a mechanical issue with any of them in many years of racing.
Every time I talk with the motorcycle shops they all tell me I should be using synthetic & every time I pull the cylinder off to measure things it looks like brand new...right down to the original cross hatching in the cylinder.
If that oil can handle the torture it gets in those fancy little motors, I'm pretty sure it's good enough for any vintage car engine provided the engine is clean inside & not a bunch of sludge that's going to get stirred up.
I wouldn't run synthetic myself...certainly not if your reason is so you can run it longer.
