greetings. have had ongoing issues with my 230 dodge in my command car. engine is a known good rebuild, ran fine until recently. stock rebuild, running zenith carb & until problems started, petronix and pertronix coil. the truck vapor locked once this summer and then restarted. later in the summer, after insulating the fuel pump heat shield and fuel pump to carb line, the truck died and wouldnt restart. bad coil, bad petronix - changed both. installed a blaster 2 coil with .08 resistor as directed to use with points distributor that i put new parts in. got truck running. heat manifold flapper was broken in the winter position. had manifold heat flapper replaced & renistalled manifolds with new gaskets, torqued to spec. sent zenith out for professional rebuild & reinstalled. upon installation of the above, found a off idle - mid throttle surge / bucking condition. sent spare distributor out for professional rebuilt. got dist back and installed, timed @ 7 btdc. helped a bit, but still surge and buck at mid range and under load. reinstalled 1st zenith, condition improved a bit, but still unacceptable. am now stumped. have good oil pressure at idle, have good vacuum at idle, good operating temperature, no strange noises. have 14.4 volts at resistor in, 10.5 volts to coil. new spark plugs, new spark plug wires. still having a miss, surg buck. need to check again for vacuum leak or maybe put in non resistor coil? donaldson valve?? Fuel pump? rubber line from metal line to fuel pump?? fuel lines are new when truck was restored. eliminated firewall filter, added in line filter near tank. tank clean - is a renued NOS tank? open to ideas as i'm at a loss. engine has good compression
