I'm sure they will. I'm planting trees in two places -- in the meadow near the creek and up on the hill on a flat spot I have a good fence around the lower spot, but didn't get a fence in at the upper spot in time this season, so just have cages of 6x6 concrete slab reinforcing wire around individual trees. I hope that will be adequate until I build a real fence next year. Once the trees start to bear, I will add an electric wire to each fence since that's the only way to keep bears out. It's all kind of an experiment, but I want to give it a try.
