For your swap. eBay probably has a wide belt pulley, about $20. Some are one piece, soem use multiple shims to match the groove to the particualr belt size.

So far as alts go, I'm a champion of three-wire, later CS series. They are smaller in diameter, and use a different regulating system that makes juice at lower speed. CS-130?

Three wire is better, it makes 14 volts at the battery, not 14 at the alt. So old wiring with grungy connections don't cause any grief. Or on my own truck, I'm only using two, leaving the white wire off. It won't start to put out until you rev it up after starting. Or hook up the white wire with a diode, or an idiot light. The light is needed to act as a resistor, other wise hooking direct to ign will not allow the motor to shut off.
