FINALLY!!!! he called at 4 pm and said it was all ready. I go on duty tomorrow, and will work two days overtime after my shift, so I won't be home til Sunday to even think about putting it on.
But in the long run it may be better, I have some things that need to be done before I put the bed on.
Got the full size fuel tank back from the radiator shop. They soaked it in acid for three days to get the varnished fuel out of it, and he had to cut a small hole in the otherwise perfect tank to make sure he got it all off both internal baffles. I said well as long as your coin that, can ya make sure the pick up tube is in good shape. It was. Now, he refused to coat the interior of the tank, as it has two baffles and he couldn't guarantee it would coat them appropriately. Is the tank gonna be ok, with not coating inside? I mean rust wise. I have a cheap plastic filter right outside the tank in the fuel line, so I can change it often. Just wondering if its gonna rust bad with no coating.
Second, bought a brand new tailgate from VPW, as the body guy said he couldn't do much with mine for the price of a new one. And, awhile back I got the hinges from VPW. Has anyone else got this arrangement from them? Reason I ask, the hinges done come close to fitting inside the tailgate. The pipe they use is gonna hafta be sanded way down to fit inside the tailgate. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem.
Lookin forward to getting stuff swapped out to get the bed on. Then after all that, swap the rear axle for a centered, and install the 4.89s…..MMMMMMMM……. sooonnnn
