That is the body tag. The first two digits are the year that the body was designed the second two is the body style the last digits are the serial number of the body not to be confused with the VIN number.
So the number above says a 1943 design of truck type 12 (which I do not know at this time) and it is the 12677th body of that 1943 type.
My carry all is 4249 XXXX
My 51 PW is 5182 XXXX
I have seen a listing of all the body types some place but I do not have it with me right now.
