Having all three kinds, I think Tig's only advantage is being able to control filler feed separate from heat. So, good for thin and exotics.
Mig is production baby.
And higher silicone mig wire is also pretty good for old stuff. S-6 better than S-3. See the reddish 'flux' in a finished mig weld? That is the crud brought out by the silicon.
