Really, think what you are trying to accomplish by spending the money on a 12 volt system. Is this just something you heard was good to do?

If you don't plan on driving in cold weather, a 6 volt system will probably do you just fine and keep the truck more original. Even if you live in a cold area, those farmers still managed to drive their trucks with 6 volt systems.
