Back in 2000 when I did the Bumblebee, I went to a local body shop that does quality work. I wanted a price to shoot Base/Clear if I did all the body work. His price was 6 to 7 K. Je said he knew he would have to do a lot of the body work over before he could shoot paint. I asked about a user paint job.
His answer was all his work was the same top quality. He further explained that any flaws in the body work would show up and make the paint job not look good. His reputation for quality work would go down the drain.
I quickly learned how to do body work and shoot Base/Clear. I have shot all my old iron. Its not a show quality paint job but a real nice user that I can take off road and not worry.
