I went back to the shop and heated the bung and petcock and out they came, easy as pie.

In the vice, I was able to free the petcock and see that the bung on the scrap radiator was pretty badly corroded. No tricks needed, just standard stuff.

I should take the radiator back, but I accepted it without complaining and it's just as easy for me to solder another petcock back in, if I can find a bung that will work.

I guess I thought it was going to be some complicated process and that's why he didn't replace the bung, but it's just a standard petcock sweated onto the tank. He acted like he didn't want to take a chance messing up the tank. Next time, I will go somewhere else.
