I had a weird one on one of my M35s. In one hi/lo position the lights came on but only at half brightness. Turns out some motor pool genius had plugged the wrong wires together. The military headlight bulbs have three wires coming out of them, so you can plug them into the three wires in the socket in quite a variety of combinations. You're supposed to look at the numbers on the tags on the wires, but this guy didn't. This is the same truck that suddenly started running really rough, firing on only 5 cylinders, and when I pulled the valve cover, expecting some major disaster, it turned out that probably the same genius had not tightened the locknuts on the #1 rocker arms after doing a valve adjustment. It took about 500 miles for the nuts to unscrew themselves and the adjusters to fall out. By some miracle all the loose pieces landed on top of the head rather than falling down the oil drain holes or push rod holes, and the push rods bounced around in their holes without hitting anything or getting bent.
