I never had any problems with my 05 Ford 6.0 after 16K miles when they replaced the turbo. It ran fine and I did routine maintenance. I suspect the reason I did not have problems is that it was always run on the highway and never in town. Based on the hour meter and speedo I went 48 miles for every hour that the engine ran. The dealer said most are 14 to 16 miles for every hour ran. Additionally 6.0 engines built after July 04 had a lot less problems. The early ones were a pain.
All that being said I traded in my 05 for a new 2013 F350 with the 6.7 diesel. All I can say is that runs circles around my 6.0. It is such a different truck in all aspects you can't believe that it is the "same Truck". So much more power, so much quieter, so much more ability to climb hills fully loaded and at speed.
