I bought my Father's car off him in Victoria, BC, drove it to my place in Alberta with the plate off my old car. (Alberta grants 14 days registration coverage to a 'new' vehicle from the date of the bill of sale)I insured it over the phone before I left. When I got home I had to get an out-of-province inspection. Went into the registry office with nothing but a hand written bill of sale and Done. I asked if that was good enough and the lady said that they check the vehicle being registered for any legal hanky panky, and if it's clear, you're good to go. It's that easy. (But it MUST be roadworthy or no pass)
