Agreed about the quality. Somewhere I still have my dad's vise-grips from the 1950s. They're the best. The Harbor Freight ones appear to be made out of steel that was rejected for use in rebar, possibly alloyed with lead. Good vise-grips are always something to pick up at yard sales. The new ones are good for welding clamps, though, so you don't have to worry about burning them.
