I called PAW and asked to return the manifold. No problem, just include a copy of the invoice, and put the invoice number on the box. That's it. No fuss, no muss. Never returned anything so easily.

I found in their catalog a single plane more suited for what I'm doing. Holly has discontinued it, but have 20 left. PAW is ordering one from them, will arrive in about 10 days. The ports are smaller and more closer matched to mine, plus it is lower in overall height. Power band is 0-4800 rpm, which is perfect. Looks amazingly like the original factory 2-bbl, but a bit larger for port runners and a 4-bbl. Holly says it adds 30 hp over the stock 2-bbl with a 600-650 cfm carb.

As for the airflow, I have not decided what carb to run. The manifold will accept all but the largest of the spreadbores, plus squarebores. I think the 390 cfm Holly is a bit on the small side. Probably a 550 to 600 is about ideal. I wonder which carb - Thermoquad, AFB or Holley, is best suited to off road conditions (ie - tilt). Will probably slap on a used Holley 600 to start and go from there.
