Here in Iowa we saw some awesome flooding in the last ten years. I have friends who lost everything - from the crops in the ground to second story furniture. Livestock, cars pictures... It was terrible.
When a tornado hits, dents can be pounded out, appliances can be used and roofs can be replaced.
A flood will eat the foundation away and rot the wood. Ruin anything electronic and float septic systems. Total cars and destroy your grandma's photo album.
The best and nicest thing anybody can do is offer to help in any way possible. Whether it's money or labor doesn't matter. People will need help.
