One of the strangest engines engines I've ever run across was this MEP.A friend that worked for a natural gas company took me to a booster station where this engine was located. It was a 6 cyl.that had two crankshafts & 12 pistons! One crank was on the upper end of the block, and the other was on the lower end.The cranks were connected by a series of gears and shafts.Everthing was all timed as the opposing pistons came together(almost) to form the combustion chamber. The horse power was between 1500-2000.I believe that it was originally a Diesel, but had been converted to run on natural gas(injected). The engine was out of a submarine.Has anyone else ever seen one? Maybe we could take two 230's and attach.....Just a thought! Jim
