The first thing that comes to mind is a torn diaphram on the fuel pump. It may be that parking on the hill helped drain the tank into the crankcase, assuming the gas tank was uphill of the pump.
If the pump is sound, check the carb. It might be that the needle and seat in the carb did not seat well because of the hill and the gas drained into the block, again assuming the gas tank was uphill of the carb.
