Stupid question of the day: How do you tell if a fuel sender is 6v or 12v?

I received a new fuel sender from VPW some time back for my new Chris Case stainless fuel tank (beautiful work Chris!) and installed it. Anyway, I couldn't get the gauge to work and gave up on it till now.

I have the tank back out of the truck (working on the frame) and want to trouble shoot this sender/gauge problem. Anyway to verify that VPW sent me a 6v sender and not a 12v?

BTW, my truck is a 1955 FFPW and the gauge is original but not sure if it works. The truck is 6v.

Thanks!
Clark
