Or is it just that you are getting a lot more noise when you step on the gas? Is the popping coming from the carburetor, engine or back of the truck? Does the engine hesitate or buck? Is the engine making what you would consider normal power. Does it run smoothly when you accelerate?
Have you tried revving up the engine in neutral while watching the engine with the hood up and air cleaner off?
Are you getting extra smoke or puffs of smoke out the exhaust? Doe the engine pop in neutral or only under load? Can you feel the pops out the exhaust?
Have you tried pulling the choke a little when the popping occurs?
Help us out with a little trouble shooting information. It's sort of like the lady who takes her car to the mechanic and says the car is making a, "funny noise".
