My first was an atlas, I rebuilt it learned a lot from it. Sold it for an enco. Sold that and went with a large republic Lagun. Have sold that and now run a Sharp.
The atlas is a good lathe for the advanced hobbiest, the make a part once in a while type of shop. The value in nearly any used lathe is the tooling. If you don't get in a hurry and hog metal with it you should be very happy. Ps I prefer geared heads to change speeds, more noisy but lots quicker.
