Is there really much chance that new points failed to work? And, I doubt that both the points and condenser were bad at the same time, so you replaced something unnecessarily.

And, while there has been discussion here about the poor quality of the new condensers, I wouldn't bet money on this one being bad. Remember how you were sure it was the carburetor causing the problem?

In any event, it's a good idea to learn how to check a condenser before you put it in the distributor. They can be easily checked using a multi-meter.

Anyway, it's good to have a fix, no matter how you achieved it.
