The lathes here at the Shipyard...our newest one is from the 40's :)
The machinist who ran them his whole life had wedges & shims he would jam in strategic locations to make up for play in the machine.
There was some fine machining done with those tools over the years. Amazing the difference between him operating them & me operating them! :) :)
