Nick you might want to go to "THE BEST OF THE FORUM" link at top of this page and scroll down to the bottom section then read
OSHA paper, Combat wheel post, & Paul Cook's post on NDT tires & wheels (the last part of his posts has drawings from army tech manuals on Combat wheels.
with all this knowledge - find a AG tire service shop if possible they will have bead breakers that are used for tractor tire work where the wheel is not removed from the equipment the breaker squeezes the beads down
from the rim as opposed to beating on the rim with bead breaker hammers - this will save the finish on your old wheels.
have the shop install & inflate your tires on your cleaned & inspected combat wheels
