well that would rule out the carb, ign timing, & timing chain and point to components the could be affected by the heat
as some have already posted the heat riser assy could be malfuncting or perhaps the governer unit - you might contact Clint Dixon
as he had posted info on governer units in the past
and re the headache rack
if you plan on using your rig for working a bit you might just leave it in place
if however you just plan on trips to the local DQ or car shows you can remove it and your truck will look like all the rest
