That's kind of my opinion of it as well. It's a great book for someone with no mechanical experience.
Everyone has to start somewhere & if you don't know how to adjust brakes or install a set of points, this book may guide you in the right direction.
I find the factory service manuals for any vehicle mandatory reading. If you buy a new car...an owners manual is for decoration but a factory service manual is a necessity.
