I agree with what Chris says. White Oak is a good choice for bed wood, but it will shrink a lot as it drys. I had some white oak cut green to 10-inches wide. When it dried, it ended up about 8-1/2 inches wide.

Search through Phil's t137 site. There is a lot of information on the bed wood. There are at least three different versions of the Power Wagon bed wood - the first series 4-pocket bed, the early second series 3-pocket bed, and the late second series bed wood. I do not know if the third series wood is the same as the late second series or not. That may be a fourth version.

If you want it to look original, paint it black rather than staining or clear coating. Also, the joints between the boards do not necessarily fall where the skid strips are. And, the joints between the boards are not necessarily perfectly parallel with the skid strips. Single boards should be makeup of two or more edge glued narrow boards.
