I followed a Craigslist lead to where a 1946 FFPW was for sale near where I live and was toured around the yard to look at several 1940 - 1960's Dodge, GMC, REO trucks for sale. Some appear complete, one comes with a parts truck to (I'm told) complete one restoration. There were a couple M-37's, one complete and in good shape with combat wheels, and a cool M-37 looking truck with an ambulance-like body, but it had 'SHERIFF' painted across the back and was obviously a Paddy Wagon.
The civilian FFPW I was interested in seemed to be complete mechanically, and the motor turns by hand, but does not have a correct bed and the headlights look wrong. The doors have the name of a San Francisco plumbing company painted on them, and I was told that the rack built into the bed supported drilling equipment. The owner is asking $1500 and all of these trucks are located about 1 1/2 hours north of San Francisco.
Hopefully, I attached the photo link correctly...
