Drag linkage.

Hey guys! Hope your weekend is going well! I'm taking off the drag linkage so I can preload the bearings on the drivers side. I know the drag link caps back out on each end releasing the spring compression and let's the linkage disconnect from the pitman arm and steering arm. For whatever reason I can't get the ends to revererse out . Why might this be? Any suggestions?
