I know quite a bit about two-way radio in general. The one thing in the mix that you have any control over is the installation of your antenna and getting it proberly matched. I refer to the Standing Wave Ratio or SWR as most know it. If you don't have a meter it is worth the money to get a professional shop to set that up. Some cb's have cavity tuners built in but they always work better if the antenna is set up and place properly on the vehicle. I'm sure you can read more about it on the web.
